Tip the batter right into your pan. Pop it in the oven for 30-35 minutes. Stick in a toothpick—if it comes out clean, you’re good. Let it cool off before you cut it.

Grab another bowl, stir together salt, baking powder, and flour. Slowly toss half those dry parts into your batter, then pour in half the milk. Do this again with the rest, mixing just till it all comes together.

Mix in that vanilla until you can’t see streaks.

Crack one egg at a time into the bowl, mixing each in before adding the next.

Beat the soft butter and sugar together until they’re light and fluffy looking.

Rub some butter or oil over your 23 x 33 cm pan, dust with flour, and make sure you hit those corners.
