Hamburger Steak Bake (Print Version)

Tender beef patties baked in creamy mushroom gravy with sweet onions and chopped parsley for the ultimate comfort dish.

# Ingredients:

→ Hamburger Steaks

01 - Black pepper as much as you like
02 - 60 g breadcrumbs
03 - Salt to suit your taste
04 - 1 large egg
05 - 680 g ground beef
06 - 1 teaspoon onion powder
07 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder

→ Sauce

08 - 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
09 - 285 g cream of mushroom soup
10 - 1 cup mushrooms, sliced up
11 - 1 small onion, cut into thin pieces
12 - 120 ml milk

→ Topping

13 - Chopped fresh parsley

# Steps:

01 - Right before you dig in, sprinkle parsley on top. These go great with mashed potatoes or noodles if you want something extra.
02 - Snugly cover the dish with foil and bake for about 30–35 minutes. Pull the foil off and bake for another 10 minutes till the steaks are cooked through and the sauce is bubbling away.
03 - Toss onion slices and mushrooms all over the sauce and steaks, spreading them out evenly.
04 - In another bowl, stir together the milk, cream of mushroom soup, and Worcestershire until smooth. Pour this all over the patties in the baking dish.
05 - Get your skillet hot on medium. Sear patties a couple of minutes on each side just to brown the outsides—they’ll finish cooking in the oven. Lay them out in the greased dish next.
06 - In a big bowl, mix beef, egg, breadcrumbs, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Don’t overmix. Make 4 to 6 oval shapes from the mixture.
07 - Get your oven going to 175°C and spray or grease a 23×33 cm baking dish so nothing sticks.

# Notes:

01 - Swap in cream of chicken soup for the mushroom version to give this a new spin.
02 - Want fewer carbs? Use almond flour instead of breadcrumbs.
