Apple Crumble Oats (Print Version)

Soft, oven-baked apples tucked under a crunchy oat top, warm spices, and homestyle flavors to kick off your morning right.

# Ingredients:

→ Crumble Topping

01 - 67 grams brown sugar
02 - 0.25 teaspoon salt
03 - 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
04 - 65 grams all-purpose flour
05 - 100 grams old-fashioned oats
06 - 57 grams unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

→ Apple Filling

07 - 0.25 teaspoon nutmeg, ground
08 - 2 tablespoons brown sugar
09 - 1 tablespoon cornstarch
10 - 1 tablespoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
11 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
12 - 6 medium apples like Honeycrisp or Granny Smith, peeled and sliced

# Steps:

01 - Once it's outta the oven, let it chill for around 10 minutes. Dig in while it's still warm.
02 - Let it bake for about 30 to 35 minutes. You want the top to look golden and the apple part to bubble up.
03 - Toss the apple mix into the baking dish (or your trusty cast iron if you fancy it), and cover all that with the oat topping.
04 - Throw oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl. Take the cold butter chunks and rub 'em in with your fingers or mash with a pastry tool till you get rough crumbs.
05 - Slice up the apples nice and thin. Mix 'em in a bowl with nutmeg, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch.
06 - Set your oven to 190°C so it's nice and hot.

# Notes:

01 - Go with tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp—they keep their shape really well.
