Cherry Vanilla Soda (Print Version)

This fizzy drink jolts together bright cherries and a kiss of vanilla in homemade syrup, all poured over bubbly soda water.

# Ingredients:

→ Cherry Vanilla

01 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
02 - 1/2 cup regular sugar
03 - 1/2 cup water
04 - 12 cherries, pitted and split

→ Serving

05 - Sparkling water

# Steps:

01 - Pop the cherries out of their pits and break them in half. Toss them into a small pot with vanilla, water, and sugar. Fire up the stove to medium.
02 - After smashing those cherries, let everything bubble together for another 10 minutes while it thickens up a bit.
03 - Give the cherries a good mash once they've been heating for about 5 minutes. Use whatever tool gets the job done.
04 - Move the pot off the burner. Leave it for 15 minutes so it cools. Pour it through a sieve into a jar to strain.
05 - You can stick the syrup in the fridge to cool more or pour it over a glass of ice and splash in soda water. It'll stay good for a week if you chill it.

# Notes:

01 - Sweetness is up to you—just pour more or less syrup in your drink until it tastes right. It's got that classic creamy soda kick.
