07 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
08 - 200 grams light brown sugar

→ Topping Ideas

09 - Vanilla ice cream to serve up on the side (just if you want)
10 - Caramel sauce to drizzle over the top (if you feel like it)

# Steps:

01 - Lay some parchment or a silicone liner on your sheet pan. Crank the oven to 200°C to heat up.
02 - Peel the apple, toss the core, and chop the fruit into thick matchsticks (aim for them to be about the same size).
03 - Scoop the panko into a shallow dish so it’s easy to grab handfuls when you’re coating.
04 - In a separate shallow bowl, stir together the flour, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until everything looks blended.
05 - Crack your egg into a small bowl and whisk it pretty well so there isn’t any streaky white or yolk left.
06 - Start dipping your apple sticks into the flour and sugar bowl, shake off whatever doesn’t stick.
07 - Now move those coated sticks into the egg bowl, making sure they’re fully covered but not dripping.
08 - Roll each apple stick in panko crumbs, pressing gently to make sure it all sticks on well.
09 - Space all the apple fries out on your lined sheet pan. Don’t let them touch, so every edge crisps up.
10 - Pop them in the oven. Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes until they turn golden and crunchy on the edges.
11 - Take the pan out and leave the fries alone for around 5 minutes to let them set and get their crunch.
12 - Dig in while they’re warm. Drizzle some caramel or scoop on ice cream if that sounds good to you.

# Notes:

01 - Chop your apples evenly so they cook the same way all over.
02 - Choose Granny Smith if you like things tart or Honeycrisp if you want them juicy.
03 - Eat the fries while they're fresh to get that awesome crunch.
04 - Skip the microwave to reheat. Use a hot oven for crisp fries again.
05 - Want to change it up? Try mixing in some cardamom or ground ginger for a fresh spin.
