# Ingredients:

→ Dough

01 - 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
02 - 1 tsp salt
03 - 1 tsp turmeric
04 - ½ cup cold butter, cubed
05 - ½ cup cold shortening
06 - ½ cup ice-cold water

→ Filling

07 - 1 lb ground beef
08 - 1 small onion, finely chopped
09 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
10 - 1 tsp thyme
11 - 1 tsp allspice
12 - ½ tsp cayenne pepper, optional
13 - ½ tsp black pepper
14 - 1 tsp salt
15 - 1 tbsp soy sauce
16 - ½ cup breadcrumbs
17 - ½ cup beef broth
18 - 1 tbsp curry powder
19 - 1 egg, for egg wash

# Steps:

01 - In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and turmeric. Add butter and shortening, rubbing them into the flour until crumbly. Gradually add ice-cold water and knead into a dough. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
02 - Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Add onion, garlic, thyme, allspice, cayenne, black pepper, and salt. Stir in soy sauce, curry powder, and beef broth. Simmer for 10 minutes. Mix in breadcrumbs and cook until thickened. Let cool.
03 - Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out dough and cut into 6-inch diameter circles. Place 2 tbsp of filling on one side, fold over, and seal edges with a fork. Brush with egg wash.
04 - Arrange patties on a lined baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

# Notes:

01 - For extra flaky crust, use very cold butter and shortening. Avoid overworking the dough to maintain a tender texture.
02 - Adjust the cayenne pepper for personal spice preference. For a more authentic flavor, add a small amount of Scotch bonnet pepper.
03 - Store baked patties in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze unbaked patties for up to 3 months. Bake frozen at 375°F for 30-35 minutes.
