Buttery puff pastry filled with soft cinnamon apples makes a sweet start to your day or a light dessert.

# Ingredients You'll Need:

→ Dough

01 - 2 thawed sheets of frozen puff pastry

→ Wash

02 - 1 large egg whipped with 15 ml water
03 - 2 tablespoons of big grain sugar

→ Apple Mix

04 - 3 peeled and chopped medium apples
05 - 45 grams white sugar
06 - 5 grams ground cinnamon
07 - 8 grams plain flour
08 - 15 ml fresh lemon juice
09 - 15 grams unsalted butter

→ Topping

10 - 120 grams icing sugar
11 - 30 to 45 ml milk
12 - 2.5 ml vanilla flavor

# Detailed Preparation Steps:

01 - In a pan over medium heat, cook apples with sugar, cinnamon, flour, lemon juice, and butter till soft and thick, about 8 mins.
02 - Put the apple mix in a bowl to cool off fully before moving on.
03 - Roll the puff pastry sheets out and cut them into squares about 12 cm across.
04 - Drop a spoonful of the cooled apple mix in the middle of each square; fold over diagonally to make triangles.
05 - Use a fork to press down the edges tight so none of the filling escapes.
06 - Paint each turnover with the egg mixture and sprinkle on the coarse sugar.
07 - Place turnovers on a lined baking sheet and bake in a 200°C (about 400°F) oven for 18 to 22 mins till golden and puffed.
08 - Mix the icing sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over the turnovers once they’ve cooled if you want.

# Helpful Tips:

01 - Combining tart with sweet apples makes these taste better. Keep the dough cold till right before baking to keep it flaky. Add more milk for a runnier glaze or less for thicker.
